Do you hear the strum of a guitar chord in your dreams? Does the idea of playing your favorite song from start to finish make you feel motivated? At Lutherville Music School (LMS), we believe that everyone—from complete beginners to seasoned players—deserves a chance to pick up a guitar, learn with confidence, and share in the joy of music. Here’s how we’re helping guitar lovers all over Baltimore make that happen.

Our guitar instructors aren’t just teaching—they’re performing, recording, and living music in the Baltimore area. Teachers like Noah Pierre, Damian Silvas, Drew Wright, and others bring real-world experience to the lesson room, and know how to guide students through both technique and artistry. - Flexible Scheduling
Life is busy. That’s why LMS offers lessons seven days a week—daytimes, evenings, weekends—to fit your schedule. Whether you’re juggling school, work, or family, we’ll find a time that works. - Performance & Community Opportunities
Learning guitar isn’t just about private lessons. It’s about playing with others, getting on stage, and feeling what it’s like to share music. At LMS, our students have chances to perform in concerts and showcases. We also host our Rock School bands, co‐rehearsals, and events where students of different backgrounds come together through music. - Modern Facilities & Resources
Recently renovated, LMS features a recording studio, updated practice rooms, and gear that helps support growth not only as a player, but as an evolving, creative musician.
What to Expect in a Guitar Lesson
Here’s a snapshot of what your journey could look like with LMS:
- First Lesson / Assessment
We’ll talk about what you want to achieve (learn songs, play in a band, improve technique, etc.). We’ll take stock of where you are—your instrument, what you know, and where you’d like to go. - Foundations
Basics like posture, hand positioning, tuning, how to hold a pick, chords, and strumming. If you want to jump right into playing songs, building this foundation pays off. - Technique & Repertoire
Once basics are solid, lessons will include working through scales, chord progressions, riffs. You’ll pick songs you love; we’ll break them down. If you’re interested, we explore different genres or styles. - Theory, Ear Training, Music Skills
Understanding how scales, harmony, rhythm all work helps you improvise, write your own music, or communicate with other musicians. We integrate these skills gently, so they enhance—not overwhelm—the creative part. - Performance & Feedback
Whether you record something in the studio, play for your teacher, or join a band rehearsal, feedback and real‐world playing are key. It’s not about perfection, it’s about growth and confidence.

- What You’ll Need: Your own guitar helps—acoustic or electric. If you don’t have one yet, we can help guide you on what to get, as well as provide rentals. Access to a tuner, picks, and a strap is helpful.
