Did you know that Beethoven was deaf?
One of his most famous works, the Symphony No. 9, was written when he could barely hear at all. At the premiere in 1824, it’s said that the audience gave a huge standing ovation — but Beethoven couldn’t hear the applause! One of the performers had to turn him around so he could see the crowd cheering.
