Violin Lessons

Violin

Our violin teachers can teach a wide variety of genres. The violin is normally associated with classical and folk music, but our violin teachers can teach every genre from pop to jazz and even some fiddle! Our students spend time each week working on technical skills to improve their sound quality and intonation, but also have their favorite songs incorporated into the lessons so they finish with their favorite piece. Our violin teachers, through their care and expertise, will certainly nurture any student’s love of the violin. We tailor our lessons to each individual student's needs and preferences, and encourage students to learn their favorite tunes.

What’s the #1 reason to study violin at Lutherville Music School?

Our violin instructors are warm and friendly, and get to know each student and parent on a personal level. We work with you to craft a lesson plan that fits your individual needs and the student's favorite type of music. Whether you're playing in local bands, a seven year old taking their first lesson, or a fifty year old returning to the violin after many years, we’ll set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.

What styles of violin do you teach?

We teach all styles, from rock, pop, jazz, and blues to country fiddle and classical.

How qualified are your violin instructors?

Our violin and music instructors have or are earning bachelor's degrees in music and are in bands that regularly play shows, write, and record their own music. Many have toured the US and Europe, and bring professional performance and teaching experience to your lessons.

What will I learn from violin lessons at the Lutherville Music School?

Beginner violin students can expect to work on intonation, simple songs and melodies, sight reading, and theory. Our instructors balance musicianship and fun by making sure that each lesson presents a new technical challenge or theory concept, and ends with something fun, such as your favorite riff or song. We tailor our lessons to each individual student's needs and preferences, and encourage students to learn their favorite tunes.

Do I need to purchase a violin to learn the instrument?

Lutherville Music School offers violins for student lessons (for your convenience, students can use one of ours at their first lesson). But to practice at home, you will need a violin.  Music Go Round has great deals on violins and all of the accessories you will need.
